This study employed large eddy simulation (LES) with the wall-adapting local eddy-viscosity (WALE) model to investigate transitional flow characteristics in an idealized model of a healthy thoracic aorta. The OpenFOAM solver pimpleFoam was used to simulate blood flow as an incompressible Newtonian fluid, with the aortic walls treated as rigid boundaries. Simulations were conducted for 30 cardiac cycles and ensemble averaging was employed to ensure statistically reliable results.

Ammonia (NH) holds promise as a carbon-free fuel. Blending it with highly reactive fuels could efficiently alleviate issues such as slow burning rates and narrow flammability ranges. Ethanol (CHOH) offers the advantage of carbon neutrality and has a high-octane rating.

In recent years, microfluidics has emerged as an interdisciplinary field, receiving significant attention across various biomedical applications. Achieving a noticeable mixing of biofluids and biochemicals at laminar flow conditions is essential in numerous microfluidics systems. In this research work, a new kind of micromixer design integrated with an Archimedes screw is designed and investigated using numerical simulation and experimental approaches.

In microfluidic chips, glass free-form microchannels have obvious advantages in thermochemical stability and biocompatibility compared to polymer-based channels, but they face challenges in processing morphology and quality. Hence, picosecond laser etching with galvanometer scanning is proposed to machine spiral microfluidic channels on a glass substrate. The objective is to disperse and sort microparticles from a glass microchip that is difficult to cut.
