A study was made of the role of bronchography and bronchozonography in the diagnosis of bronchial patency impairment in patients with chronic pneumonia. 144 patients were subjected to a comprehensive x-ray examination. The x-ray signs were divided into 3 groups: Group I included the signs of bronchiostenosis, Group II those of dilatation, and Group III included combined stenosis and dilatation. A definite interrelationship was found between the degree of the morphological impairment of bronchial patency and lesions in the lung parenchyma. During insignificant or marked stenosis and dilatation of the bronchi of the medium size, the lung tissue commonly showed negligible lesions or gross alterations, respectively.
