Introduction: Patients with heart failure exacerbation can present in a variety of ways, including sympathetic crashing acute pulmonary edema (SCAPE). Emergency physicians play a key role in the diagnosis and management of this condition.
Objective: This narrative review evaluates key evidence-based updates concerning the diagnosis and management of SCAPE for the emergency clinician.

Acute arterial hypertension within the critical care context may necessitate the administration of intravenous antihypertensive agents. Nicardipine and urapidil are notable for their application in intensive care units. Nonetheless, dihydropyridine calcium channel inhibitors (DCCIs) such as nicardipine are implicated in the impairment of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, potentially disrupting oxygenation.

Objective: For the purpose of this experiment, an ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) assay with accuracy and simplicity was optimized and fully validated for the simultaneous quantitative determination of almonertinib and its metabolite HAS-719, and drug-drug interactions (DDI) between almonertinib and nicardipine and was researched.
Materials And Methods: Detection of analytes was achieved by UPLC-MS/MS coupled with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) in the positive ion mode with ion transitions of 526.

Ethanol-induced dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens (nAc) is associated with reward and reinforcement, and for ethanol to elevate nAc dopamine levels, a simultaneous increase in endogenous taurine is required within the same brain region. By employing in vivo microdialysis in male Wistar rats combined with pharmacological, chemogenetic and metabolic approaches, our aim with this study was to identify mechanisms underlying ethanol-induced taurine release. Our results demonstrate that the taurine elevation, elicited by either systemic or local ethanol administration, occurs both in presence and absence of action potential firing or NMDA receptor blockade.
