Concentrations of total and vertical elutriated airborne dusts were quantified for five work areas within a rice production commune near Shanghai, the People's Republic of China. Mean (+/- SE) commune levels of 15.69 +/- 1.91 mg/m3 and 6.00 +/- 1.47 mg/m3 were found for total and vertical elutriated dusts, respectively. Analysis of the airborne dusts for the presence of gram-negative bacterial endotoxins resulted in mean levels of 21.23 +/- 8.63 ng/mg total dust and 14.57 +/- 7.97 ng/mg elutriated dust, with respective airborne concentrations of 492.12 and 100.22 ng endotoxin/m3. These data show that rice production in the People's Republic of China is associated with a dust burden that is contaminated with relatively high levels of endotoxins. The long-term respiratory effects of inhalation of these dusts should be studied.

Evolving environmental conditions due to climate change have brought about changes in agriculture, which is required for human life as both a source of food and income. International trade can act as a buffer against potential negative impacts of climate change on crop yields, but recent years have seen breakdowns in global trade, including export bans to improve domestic food security. For countries that rely heavily on imported food, governments may institute policies to protect their agricultural industry from changes in climate-induced crop yield changes and other countries' potential trade restrictions.

This paper attempts to describe and explain the long-term evolution of wage inequality in imperial China, covering over two millennia from the Han dynasty to the Qing dynasty (202 BCE-1912 CE). Based on historical government records of official salaries, commodity prices, and agricultural productivity, we convert various forms of salaries to equivalent rice volumes and comparable salary benchmarks. Wage inequality is measured by salary ratios and (partial) Gini coefficients between official and peasant classes as well as within the official class.

This study assessed the effects of fenobucarb (F) (1%, 10%, and 20% of the LC-96h value) on the brain cholinesterase (AChE) activity, food intake (FI), feed conversion rate (FCR), and growth of silver barb (, Bleeker, 1849). It also assessed the AChE inhibition levels that cause the abnormal swimming, behavior, and mortality of silver barb and how the feeding regime affects the recovery rate of the AChE activity. The results showed that the brain AChE inhibition increased with the F concentrations.
