Experiments on dogs with Basov's gastric fistulas were made to study the effect of amino acids with branched carbon chains (L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-valine) on gastric secretion. The mixture of amino acids in a concentration of 0.16 M exerts a powerful enough stimulant action, provoking gastric secretion amounting to 2/3 of the value obtained during sham meat feeding. The value of the secretion determined by other amino acids (L-alanine, L-proline) was the same. Unlikely, gastric secretion provoked by glycine (0.16 M) was approximately 1.5 times more intense as compared to that induced by the mixture of amino acids with branched carbon chains. The intense action of glycine is likely to be related to the fact that, apart from the properties common to other amino acids, it possesses the properties of neurotransmitters. L-glutamic acid (0.1 M) administered to the blood produces marked inhibition of gastric secretion caused by the mixture of amino acids with branched carbon chains and the same inhibition of secretion due to administration of other amino acids.

Two Gram-stain-negative, curved-rod-shaped, non-motile and aerobic bacteria W6 and I13 were isolated from marine sediment samples collected from Meishan Island located in the East China Sea. Catalase and oxidase activities and hydrolysis of Tween 40, 60 and 80 were positive for both strains, while nitrate reduction, indole production, methyl red reaction and HS production were negative. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA and genome sequences revealed that strains W6 and I13 formed distinct phylogenetic lineages within the genera and , respectively.

A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile, aerobic, light-yellow-pigmented bacterium, designated as strain Y10, was isolated from Lumnitzera racemosa leaf in Iriomote island mangrove forests in Japan. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the isolate Y10 was affiliated with the family Flavobacteriaceae, and the sequence showed the highest sequence identity to that of Neptunitalea chrysea NBRC 110019 (97.2%) and others with below 96% sequence identity.

The fate and degradation of organic matter in aquatic systems is a vital link in nutrient cycling and sedimentation processes influenced by exogenous and endogenous factors, such as inputs from upstream sources, sediment suspension, and the decomposition of aquatic organisms. The interplay of organic carbon, microbes, and environmental factors shapes the distribution and degradation of organic matter. Characterizing the source distribution of sedimentary organic matter in aquatic systems using novel proxies can unravel new insights into the mechanisms that control its dispersal, preservation and fate, which is essential to understanding the global carbon and nitrogen cycles.
