The Massachusetts maternal and child health (MCH) agency has developed a needs assessment process which includes four components: a statistical measure of need based on indirect, proxy health and social indicators; clinical standards for services to be provided; an advisory process which guides decision making and involves constituency groups; and a management system for implementing funds distribution, namely open competitive bidding in response to a Request for Proposals. In Fiscal Years 1982 and 1983, the process was applied statewide in the distribution of primary prenatal (MIC) and pediatric (C&Y) care services and lead poisoning prevention projects. Both processes resulted in clearer definitions of services to be provided under contract to the state as well as redistribution of funds to serve localities that had previously received no resources. Although the needs assessment process does not provide a direct measure of unmet need in a complex system of private and public services, it can be used to advocate for increased MCH funding and guide the distribution of new MCH service dollars.

Importance: Congenital Zika syndrome (CZS) can lead to a range of developmental and neurological issues, which increases the risk of early death. However, the all-cause and cause-specific mortality in children with CZS in the first 5 years of life remain unknown.
Objective: To compare the hazard of all-cause and cause-specific mortality before age 5 years among children with and without CZS in Brazil.

Background: We performed an umbrella review to synthesize evidence on the effects of physical activity (PA) interventions on indicators of physical and psychological health among children and adolescents, including body mass index (BMI), blood pressure (BP), depressive symptoms, and cognitive function.
Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched from inception through 31 July 2023. We included meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials exploring the effects of PA interventions on BMI, BP, depressive symptoms, or cognitive function in healthy or general children and adolescents.

Objectives: To evaluate the implementation and sustainability of the effect of a 1-year Leadership in Education for Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) program in a southeastern state, and to examine its impact on advancing the Maternal Child Health Bureau's (MCHB) Blueprint for Change-a national agenda for pediatric healthcare reform.
Methods: This study applies the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, and Sustainment (EPIS) framework to rigorously evaluate LEND implementation and impact between 2018 and 2022. In-depth interviews (N = 24) were conducted among long-term (1-year) LEND trainees, via Zoom, in a southeastern state.

Background: Out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPE) and catastrophic health expenditure (CHE) on institutional deliveries in India impose significant financial burdens, disproportionately affecting socio-economically vulnerable populations and regions despite various policy interventions.
Purpose: This study evaluates the extent of OOPE and CHE associated with institutional deliveries across Indian states and analyse regional variations using data from National Family Health Survey -5 (2019-21).
Results: The findings reveal substantial inter-state and regional disparities in mean OOPE and CHE incidence, with socioeconomic and healthcare system factors significantly influencing these outcomes.

Introduction: Although there are acceptable medical reasons for the use of food supplements, most prescriptions for newborns do not comply with current recommendations, putting continued breastfeeding at risk. This study aimed to create and validate a flowchart for newborn supplement prescription.
Methods: The flowchart was created and submitted to two rounds of assessments by a panel of judges, who calculated the content validity index (CVI) (acceptable > 0.
