Currently, clinical practice has demonstrated various applications for systemic laser photobiomodulation (PBM). In recent years, an increasing number of studies have been highlighted in the literature; however, they differ in their application methods, which can be intravenous, referred to as ILIB (intravascular laser irradiation of blood), or transdermally, recently termed VPBM (vascular photobiomodulation). This review aimed to compile all findings on these techniques and critically discuss their results.

The effectiveness of indirect Intravascular laser irradiation of blood (ILIB) is not fully understood. In this study, we provided a novel experiment that employs metabolomics to investigate the effects of ILIB in women. Twenty-eight volunteers underwent indirect ILIB and had their plasma collected before and after this procedure.

Introduction: There is a risk of distal embolization lower extremity endovascular interventions. Possibly a drug-coating embolism caused by coating detachment from intravascular devices.
Methods: This review focuses on providing updated information on distal embolism in endovascular revascularization of lower extremity arteries, including the use of drug-coated balloons.

In our earlier research, a technique was developed to estimate the effective attenuation coefficient of subcutaneous blood vessels from the skin surface using the spatial distribution of backscattered near-infrared (NIR) light. The scattering effect in surrounding tissues was suppressed through the application of a differential principle, provided that the structure is known. In this study, a new method is proposed enabling the separate estimation of both scattering and absorption coefficients using NIR light of different wavelengths.
