Drug-assisted White Light Generation via Self-assembly.

Chem Asian J

January 2025

IISER Bhopal Department of Chemistry, Chemistry, Indore By-pass Road, Bhauri, 462066, Bhopal, INDIA.

White-light generation using small organic molecules has gained significant attention from researchers working on the interface of supramolecular chemistry and organic materials. Self-assembled multi-chromophoric materials utilizing a drug molecule and microenvironment-sensitive intramolecular charge transfer dye as an emitter offer the possibility of tunable emission. In this investigation, we focused on white light generation via the combination of a polarity-sensitive red-emitting styryl chromone (SC) and a blue-emitting anticancer and psychotherapeutic drug Norharmane (NHM) in a self-assembled micellar system.

Osteoarthritis affects approximately 500 million individuals globally, with severe cases often leading to osteochondral defects. Biomimetic collagen-hydroxyapatite scaffolds have been investigated for the treatment of osteochondral defects. However, achieving precise mimicry of the intricate composition, gradient nanostructure, and biological function of native tissue remains a formidable challenge.

Poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAm), a thermorresponsive polymer, highly soluble in water below its lower critical solution temperature (LCST), is widely used in biomedical applications like drug delivery. Being able to measure PNIPAm size and aggregation state in solution quickly, inexpensively, and accurately below the LCST is critical when stoichiometric particle or molecular ratios are required. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) is probably the most widely available, and inexpensive nanoparticle sizing technique, but there are limitations with respect to sample polydispersity.

Silica Nanoparticle-Protein Aggregation and Protein Corona Formation Investigated with Scattering Techniques.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

School of Science, STEM College, RMIT University, 124 La Trobe Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000, Australia.

Protein-nanoparticle interactions and the resulting corona formation play crucial roles in the behavior and functionality of nanoparticles in biological environments. In this study, we present a comprehensive analysis of protein corona formation with superfolder green fluorescent protein (sfGFP) and bovine serum albumin in silica nanoparticle dispersions using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). For the first time, we subtracted the scattering of individual proteins in solution and individual nanoparticles from the protein-nanoparticle complexes.

Decoding the suppressing effects of Pluronic triblock copolymers on copper electrodeposition.

J Colloid Interface Sci

April 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Molecular Catalysis and Innovative Materials, Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials, Department of Chemistry, Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Triblock Pluronics of polyoxyethylene (PEO) and polyoxypropylene (PPO) are identified as competent suppressors for copper (Cu) electroplating in advanced electronics manufacturing. However, the specific interfacial roles of PEO and PPO blocks in Pluronic suppressors, are not yet fully understood, which is crucial for the rational design of effective suppressors. Herein, the influences of composition and block arrangement of such Pluronics on the inhibition against Cu plating are systematically investigated.
