The toxicity of tris (2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (TBOEP) has been extensively investigated because of its prevalence in the environment. Nevertheless, the risk factors associated with maternal transmission are poorly understood. In this study, sexually mature female zebrafish were treated with TBOEP (0, 20, 100, and 500 μg/L) for 30 days and were mated with unexposed males.

Elevated CXCL1 triggers dopaminergic neuronal loss in the substantia nigra of C57BL/6J mice: Evaluation of a novel Parkinsonian mouse model.

Zool Res

January 2025

Institute of Brain Science and Disease, School of Basic Medicine, Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Pathogenesis and Prevention of Neurological Disorders, Qingdao University, Qingdao, Shandong 266071, China. E-mail:

Substantial evidence points to the early onset of peripheral inflammation in the development of Parkinson's disease (PD), supporting the "body-first" hypothesis. However, there remains a notable absence of PD-specific animal models induced by inflammatory cytokines. This study introduces a novel mouse model of PD driven by the proinflammatory cytokine CXCL1, identified in our previous research.

Safety and antioxidant assessments of BLR-E50, 50% ethanolic extract from red beans co-fermented by Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus bulgaricus.

Food Chem Toxicol

January 2025

Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Chung Shan Medical University, Taichung, 40201, Taiwan; Department of Pediatrics, Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, Taichung, 40201, Taiwan. Electronic address:

Since red beans have poor textural properties, fermentation is commonly used to help produce better pulse products. To obtain BLR-E50, red beans are fermented using a co-culture of Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus bulgaricus, followed by extraction with 50% ethanol. The present data demonstrate that BLR-E50 did not exhibit mutagenicity, genotoxicity, or subacute oral toxicity.
