Growth trajectory of Yiling sheep and its related genetic parameters.

Trop Anim Health Prod

January 2025

Laboratory of Small Ruminant Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, 430070, People's Republic of China.

Growth traits are one of the focuses of sheep breeding, and growth curve is an effective method to describe growth traits. The body weight of Yiling sheep at 0, 120, 180, 360 and 540 days of age were fitted with five common nonlinear growth models: Logistic, Gompertz, Von Bertalanffy, Brody and Negative exponential, and the growth models were evaluated by goodness of fit standard. The results showed that the Von Bertalanffy model was suitable for characterizing the growth of Yiling sheep.

This study aimed to examine differences in isometric peak force (PF) at the start of the first pull, transition, and second pull phases of the clean, and determine their contribution in explaining the variance in snatch and clean & jerk (C&J) performance. Thirty-one national and international level male and female weightlifters participated. Isometric start position pull (ISPP), isometric transition position pull (ITPP), and isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) PF, along with competition performance, were analysed both in absolute and allometrically scaled terms.

The increasing population density and impervious surface area have exacerbated the urban heat island effect, posing significant challenges to urban environments and sustainable development. Urban spatial morphology is crucial in mitigating the urban heat island effect. This study investigated the impact of urban spatial morphology on land surface temperature (LST) at the township scale.

Behind the software: The impact of Unobtrusiveness, Goal Setting and persuasive features on BMI.

Background: Studies have demonstrated that interventions targeting weight loss and body mass index (BMI) reduction can be successful, although the specific factors that influence their effectiveness are still unclear. Behavior change support systems (BCSS) are an approach that aims to help users in their efforts to modify their behavior. A useful tool for assessing BCSS is the Persuasive Systems Design model (PSD), where different features and postulates can be employed.

Lipid Profiles, Telomere Length, and the Risk of Malignant Tumors: A Mendelian Randomization and Mediation Analysis.

Biomedicines

December 2024

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Tropical Disease Research, Department of Radiation Medicine, School of Public Health, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou 510515, China.

The relationship between lipid profiles, telomere length (TL), and cancer risk remains unclear. This study employed two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) with mediation analysis to investigate their causal relationships, examining lipid profiles as exposure, TL as mediator, and nine cancer types as outcomes. We conducted our analysis using two-stage least squares (2SLS) regression integrated with inverse variance weighted (IVW) methods to address potential endogeneity and strengthen our causal inference.
