The adenylate cyclase activity of Rat brain synaptosomal membranes is strongly activated by forskolin. This study demonstrates: 1. That GTP or its analogs, when added to forskolin, decrease the enzyme stimulation by a factor of 40 to 60%; 2. That Pertussis toxin (TP), in the presence of NAD, ADP-ribosylates a single membrane protein of 40,000 dalton apparent molecular weight in a strictly concomitant manner. This Lubrol-soluble protein has a sedimentation coefficient of 3.6 and a Stokes radius of 6 nm. An immune serum against TP blocks the NAD-glycohydrolase activity of the toxin.

Poly D,L-lactic acid (PLA) and its copolymers with glycolide PLGA 90:10 and 70:30 were polymerized under various conditions to yield polymers in the molecular weight range 12000-40000 daltons, as determined by gel permeation chromatography. Vancomycin hydrochloride was the hydrophilic drug of choice for the treatment of methicillin resistant Staphyloccoccal infections. It was microencapsulated in the synthesized polymers using water-oil-water (w/o/w) double emulsion and solvent evaporation.

Partially purified water extract was obtained from the initial water extract by ultracentrifugation. Nine protein fractions differing in molecular weight, homogeneity and the content of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were obtained by stepwise precipitation with ammonium sulfate and subsequent fractionation in columns packed with Sephadex G-100 and DEAE cellulose. Two protein fractions with a molecular weight of 30000 and 40000 daltons were practically free of LPS.

Immunoreactive TRH-OH is present at low concentrations in acid extracts from 2- days old rat pancreas. The sequential treatment of these extracts with trypsin and carboxypeptidase A is followed by a three- and ten-fold increase in TRH-OH IR respectively. The molecular weight of the protein that gives rise to TRH-OH after enzymatic treatment ranges between 30000 and 40000 daltons.
