Background: Feeding patients' self-reported medical history into the diagnostic care process may accelerate workflows in clinical routine.

Methods: We prospectively piloted a novel medical history documentation system in a German cardiological outpatient practice and evaluated its feasibility and perceived usefulness. Based on a generic software that allows to record structured information, a customized solution for the cooperating practice was developed and implemented.

Molecular basis of lipid and ligand regulation of prostaglandin receptor DP2.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Drug Research, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 201203, China.

Prostaglandin D2 receptor 2 (DP2) is an important anti-inflammatory and antiallergic drug target. While inactive DP2 structures are known, its activation mechanisms and biased signaling remain unclear. Here, we report cryo-EM structures of an apo DP2-Gi complex, a DP2-Gi complex bound to the endogenous ligand Prostaglandin D (PGD), and a DP2-Gi complex bound to indomethacin, an arrestin-biased ligand, at resolutions of 2.

Background: Digital interventions are promising additions for both usual care and rehabilitation. Evidence and studies for the latter, however, are still rare.

Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the app/web-based patient education program called "mebix" (previously called "Vision 2 - Gesundes Herz") regarding its effectiveness in relation to the parameters of disease-specific quality of life (HeartQoL), cardiovascular risk profile (Cardiovascular Risk Management [CARRISMA]), and prognostic estimation of early retirement (Screening instrument work and occupation [SIBAR]) in 190 participants from a cardiological rehabilitation clinic.

Circuit training is a form of body conditioning with endurance and resistance components. Given the function of skeletal muscle as an endocrine organ secreting various myokines involved in maintaining glucose metabolism homeostasis, our study focused on estimating the impact of the implemented training program on the direction of changes in myokines such as interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), and irisin in women newly diagnosed with insulin resistance. This prospective controlled trial randomly divided 42 women into two groups.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify why patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) in Russia have a poor prognosis, using data from various population samples and medical records over several years.
  • It established the prevalence of CHF in the Russian population, finding that 8.2% of individuals meet soft criteria for CHF, while 3.1% met strict criteria, with significant influences from conditions like hypertension and ischemic heart disease.
  • The prognosis for these patients is grim, with over half dying within four years after acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF), and most patients with severe CHF not surviving beyond ten years, primarily due to inadequate medication use and poor patient follow-up.
