Esophageal intramural pseudodiverticulosis (EIPD) is a disease of unknown pathogenesis characterized by usually systemic, cystic dilatation of the excretory ducts of esophageal submucosal glands. In this article, I review the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, endoscopic findings, esophagographic findings, and histopathology of EIPD. I also discuss the etiology and possible pathogenesis of EIPD based on my experiences with this disease and a review of the literature.

We report on a series of three children who presented with a focal cerebrospinal fluid collection within the periventricular white matter of the temporal and occipital lobes in the setting of high-grade obstructive hydrocephalus. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a focal defect within the ventricular wall associated with leakage of cerebrospinal fluid into the adjacent white matter. The white matter tracts appeared primarily displaced.

Introduction: Progressive changes in the bladder wall are observed in men with lower urinary tract obstruction secondary to benign prostatic enlargement (BPE). The high pressure voiding causes initially an increase in the proportion of smooth muscle (hyperplasia/hypertrophy of the detrusor) that develops to major changes in the advanced stages of bladder decompensationi (fibrosis), hyperactivity and decreased functional capacity. Early identification of bladder changes by noninvasive transabdominal ultrasound can suggest therapeutic choices that can prevent further organ damage in the bladder wall.

Objectives: To expose the pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapeutic options for urethral diverticula appearing after substitution urethroplasty.

Methods: Over a total of 34 urethroplasties, 20 with pediculated flap and 14 with buccal mucosa, we collected six cases of urethral diverticula/sacculation development. Five of them underwent surgery, and in one case without symptoms we opted for therapeutic abstention.
