During the years from 1974 to 1977, 30 patients were treated for carcinoma of the oro-facial region with a combination of 5-fluoro-uracil and telecobalt under the care of the Institute of Radiotherapy, Knappschafts-Krankenhaus, Recklinghausen. 13 of these patients were inoperable and had primary irradiation therapy, and the remaining 17 patients were irradiated postoperatively. The main effect that treatment showed was a rapid response in the inoperable tumors, while the 4- to 5-year survival rates of 1:13 of the inoperable cases and 6:17 of the operated patients are in accordance with generally accepted results. The possible radio-biologic relation to this is discussed.

Carboplatin is a chemotherapy agent widely used in veterinary oncology to treat various types of tumors including carcinomas. Carboplatin has previously been used in combination with 5-Fluoro uracil (5-FU) or gemcitabine for the treatment of various carcinomas. Bleomycin is a chemotherapy drug commonly used in humans, but its use has been uncommonly reported in dogs.

Background: Hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) of chemotherapy is an option for the treatment of patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer (LMCRC). Though HAI with oxaliplatin (HAI-Ox) is generally used, intravenous (IV) 5-fluoro-uracil (5FU)-oxaliplatin-irinotecan HAI (HAI-Folfirinox) is feasible and leads to curative-intent surgery in 30% of pretreated patients. We compared the efficacy and safety of HAI-Ox and HAI-Folfirinox.

Background: Next to breast cancer, advanced stage metastatic colon cancer represents a major cause for mortality in women. Germline or somatic mutations in tumor suppressor genes or in DNA mismatch repair genes represent risk factors for genetic predisposition of colon cancer that are also detectable in sporadic colon cancer. Conventional chemotherapy for colon cancer includes combination of 5-fluoro-uracil with oxaliplatin and irinotecan or targeted therapy with non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs and selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors.

Purpose: A retrospective study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the addition of neoadjuvant chemotherapy to concurrent chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Patients And Methods: Data from 62 patients treated for non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma were analyzed by comparing two groups of patients: a first group of 32 patients treated with 3 cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy based on docetaxel, cisplatin and 5-fluoro-uracil every 21 days followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (weekly cisplatin 40mg/m with radiotherapy 70Gy, 2Gy per session, 5 sessions per week) and a second group of 30 patients treated with the same concurrent chemoradiotherapy.
Results: After a median follow-up of 53.
Various studies have investigated laryngeal function and survival after induction chemotherapy in hypopharyngeal carcinoma, but potential factors to help predict response rates after induction chemotherapy remain unknown. This retro- spective study evaluated which factors are related to an ineffective response to two-cycle docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-fluoro- uracil (TPF) induction chemotherapy in hypopharyngeal carcinoma to determine potential candidates for this treatment in clinical practice. From Jan 2005 to Dec 2015, 81 patients diagnosed with hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma based on a pathological examination were analyzed.
