In this paper some of the new antiarrhythmic drugs are reviewed. The origin, electrophysiologic effects, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetic properties, hemodynamic changes, clinical utilization with indications and contraindications as well as the collateral effects of: Verapamil Amiodarone, Aprindine, Encainide, Mexiletine and Tocainide are analyzed. A conclusion is drawn for each one of these drugs in accordance with the available information in the literature and the author's criteria and experience.

Purpose: Catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF) has shown promising results in reducing mortality and improving heart function. However, previous studies have been limited by a lack of control groups and significant heterogeneity in their methodologies.
Hypothesis: CA for AF in HFPEF patients may not increase the complications and had similarly the rate of freedom from AF vs.
Background: Disopyramide is used to treat heart failure symptoms in patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) with known medium-term efficacy and safety, while long-term outcomes are unknown.
Methods And Results: A total of 92 consecutive patients with symptomatic obstructive HCM with peak left ventricular outflow tract gradients of ≥30 mm Hg at rest or with provocation who were maintained on disopyramide for ≥5 years at 2 dedicated HCM centers were included: 92 patients; mean age, 62.5 years; 54% women; treated with disopyramide for median 7.
Post-operative new-onset atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a possible complication following cardiac surgery. Digoxin is a drug with positive inotropic and negative chronotropic effects and is listed among antiarrhythmic drugs that can be prescribed in dogs with atrial fibrillation. This report aims at describing the use of digoxin in two dogs with persistent POAF after mitral valve repair.

Background: Clinical trials support dronedarone use for atrial fibrillation (AF) following catheter ablation (CA); however, comparative data on health care resource utilization (HCRU) with other antiarrhythmic drugs are lacking.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of Merative MarketScan databases (January 01, 2012-March 31, 2020) comparatively assessed HCRU in US adults with AF who received dronedarone or sotalol post-CA. Patients with ≥ 12-months' pre-CA data were followed from post-CA index treatment to disenrollment, death, or study end.

Background: Varying rates of nonsustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT) have been reported early after transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) with the Harmony valve, but data regarding rhythm outcomes beyond hospital discharge are limited. This study aims to characterize ventricular arrhythmias after Harmony TPVR from implant through mid-term follow-up.
Methods: Ventricular arrhythmia data from postimplant telemetry and follow-up extended rhythm monitoring (ERM) were analyzed after Harmony TPVR.
