A cell line from porcine spinal ganglion (PSPG) tissue was initiated and characterized. The PSPG cell line contained epithelioid, fibroblast-like, and stellate-like cells. There were numerous intercellular communications between cells in the culture. Neuronal cells were not present in the PSPG cell line. The PSPG cell line was aneuploid at the 5th and 45th subculture levels. Seven porcine viruses replicated in cultures of PSPG cells, and 2 pseudorabies virus strains infected the cells after being diluted 10(-7).

The genus Streptomyces is a group of gram-positive bacteria that exhibit a distinctive growth pattern characterised by elongated, branched hyphae. Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2), which produces at least five different antibiotics, is a model organism that is widely used in genetic studies. There are very few studies in Streptomyces on the ATP-dependent Lon protease, which has very important functions in every organism and is particularly responsible for protein homeostasis.

An injectable multifunctional hydrogel for eradication of bacterial biofilms and wound healing.

Acta Biomater

April 2023

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Food Science and Health, School of Medicine, Nankai University, Tianjin 300071, PR China. Electronic address:

Wound treatment is largely influenced by pre-existing hypoxic microenvironments and biofilms, which can severely diminish the efficacy of phototherapy, suggesting the importance of multifunctional nanoplatforms for synergistic treatment of wound infections. Here, we developed a multifunctional injectable hydrogel (PSPG hydrogel) by loading photothermal sensitive sodium nitroprusside (SNP) into Pt-modified porphyrin metal organic framework (PCN) and in situ modification of gold particles to form a near-infrared (NIR) light-triggered all-in-one phototherapeutic nanoplatform. The Pt-modified nanoplatform exhibits a remarkable catalase-like behavior and promotes the continuous decomposition of endogenous HO into O, thereby enhancing the photodynamic therapy (PDT) effect under hypoxia.

Poly(ferulic acid)-hybrid nanofibers for reducing thrombosis and restraining intimal hyperplasia in vascular tissue engineering.

Biomater Adv

March 2023

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, 1678 Dongfang Rd., Shanghai 200127, PR China. Electronic address:

Small-diameter blood vascular transplantation failure is mainly caused by the vascular materials' unreliable hemocompatibility and histocompatibility and the unmatched mechanical properties, which will cause unstable blood flow. How to solve the problems of coagulation and intimal hyperplasia caused by the above factors is formidable in vascular replacement. In this work, we have synthesized poly(ferulic acid) (PFA) and prepared poly(ester-urethane)urea (PEUU)/silk fibroin (SF)/poly(ferulic acid) (PFA) hybrid nanofibers vascular graft (PSPG) by random electrospinning and post-double network bond crosslinking for process optimization.

Docking-guided rational engineering of a macrolide glycosyltransferase glycodiversifies epothilone B.

Commun Biol

January 2022

State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Institute of Microbial Technology, Shandong University, Qingdao, 266237, P.R. China.

Glycosyltransferases typically display acceptor substrate flexibility but more stringent donor specificity. BsGT-1 is a highly effective glycosyltransferase to glycosylate macrolides, including epothilones, promising antitumor compounds. Here, we show that BsGT-1 has three major regions significantly influencing the glycodiversification of epothilone B based on structural molecular docking, "hot spots" alanine scanning, and site saturation mutagenesis.

Pyoderma Gangrenosum after Fat Grafting in Alloplastic Breast Reconstruction: An Unusual Outcome.

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open

November 2020

Department of Surgery - Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown, Pa.

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare and painful inflammatory skin disorder that has been recently associated with breast surgery. It is commonly mistaken for postoperative ischemia or wound infection and does not show response to antibiotics or debridement. We describe the first case of post-surgical PG (PSPG) after alloplastic breast reconstruction involving fat grafting.
