A brief review of the possible methods of reconstruction of the arthritic MP joint including synovectomy, arthrodesis and arthroplasty with or without implant has been presented. The surgical technique for flexible hinge implant arthroplasty at the MP joint of the fingers and thumb has been detailed. A computer analysis of the results of MP joint flexible implant arthroplasty obtained in a special field clinic study have been presented.

Background: Precise and accurate glenoid preparation is important for the success of shoulder arthroplasty. Despite advancements in preoperative planning software and enabling technologies, most surgeons execute the procedure manually. Patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) facilitates accurate glenoid guide pin placement for cannulated reaming; however, few commercially available systems offer depth of reaming control.

Introduction: As the number of revision total knee arthroplasties (rTKA) continues to rise, there is increasing interest in the use of contemporary rotating hinge prostheses. These devices often incorporate porous cones to fill bone defects and enhance long-term fixation. This study evaluated the clinical and functional outcomes and survivorship in rTKA patients utilizing a rotating hinge prosthesis with flexible titanium (FT) cones, porous tantalum (PT) cones, or no cones.

Background: Type II lunate has an extra facet with the hamate. This difference alters the biomechanics of the midcarpal joint, influencing the development of scapho-trapezio-trapezoid (STT) arthritis. We aimed to investigate whether, in patients with trapeziometacarpal (TMC) osteoarthritis (OA), involvement of the STT joint is associated with the lunate type.

Background: The risk of early revision of total hip arthroplasty (THA) for polyethylene wear is now low, but there remains a need to perform wear measurements in patients for clinical surveillance. The gold standard of wear measurements has been radiostereometric analysis (RSA), which has limited availability. The use of computed tomography (CT) to perform THA wear measurement was described a decade ago and found to have acceptable accuracy and precision, but high radiation dose was a concern.

: For many years, advancements in hand joint replacement (JR) were relatively minor compared to those for large joints. However, the caution previously exercised due to high complication rates is gradually being replaced by the expanding use of JR therapies for small joints in the hand. Despite this progress, there is a lack of comprehensive data on the outcomes of hand JR and on the optimal infrastructure required to meet the growing demand for these therapies.
