World is now experiencing a major health calamity due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus clade 2. The foremost challenge facing the scientific community is to explore the growth and transmission capability of the virus. Use of artificial intelligence (AI), such as deep learning, in (i) rapid disease detection from x-ray or computed tomography (CT) or high-resolution CT (HRCT) images, (ii) accurate prediction of the epidemic patterns and their saturation throughout the globe, (iii) forecasting the disease and psychological impact on the population from social networking data, and (iv) prediction of drug-protein interactions for repurposing the drugs, has attracted much attention.

Amino-acids, peptides, and protein hydrolysates, together with their coordinating compounds, have various applications as fertilizers, nutritional supplements, additives, fillers, or active principles to produce hydrogels with therapeutic properties. Hydrogel-based patches can be adapted for drug, protein, or peptide delivery, and tissue healing and regeneration. These materials have the advantage of copying the contour of the wound surface, ensuring oxygenation, hydration, and at the same time protecting the surface from bacterial invasion.

The interaction between drugs and transport proteins, such as albumins, is a key factor in drug bioavailability. One of the techniques commonly used for the evaluation of the drug-protein complex formation is fluorescence. This work studies the interaction of human serum albumin (HSA) with four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)-ibuprofen, flurbiprofen, naproxen, and diflunisal-by monitoring the fluorescence quenching when the drug-albumin complex is formed.

In congenital analbuminemia (CAA), mutations in the albumin gene result in a severe deficiency or absence of plasma albumin. Only about 90 cases have been reported to date, but the specific features of glucose and lipid metabolism in congenital analbuminemia have only been studied in a rat model of analbuminemia. We report the case of a female patient hospitalized for a streptococcal skin infection who showed recurrent hypoglycemia.

Studying drug-protein interactions has gained significant attention lately, and this is because the majority of drugs interact with proteins, thereby altering their structure and, moreover, their functionality. Rivastigmine tartrate (RT) is a drug that is in use for mild to moderate Alzheimer therapy. This study was targeted to characterize the interaction between human transferrin (hTf) and RT by employing spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and molecular docking studies.
