Background: Liver cirrhosis complicated by portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a fatal complication with no specific manifestations but often misdiagnosed, it crucially increases the mortality worldwide. A splenic inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT) is a rare condition in which inflammatory cells and non-cancerous specialised cells known as myofibroblasts abnormally replicate in the spleen. Patients with IPT may experience symptoms like abdominal pain, fever and weight loss, making it difficult to distinguish from processes like cancer. As a result, diagnosing IPT often requires imaging studies and microscopic examination.

This study aimed to identify asymptomatic brain lesions in patients with β-thalassemia major (TM) and sickle cell anemia (SCA) and evaluate the correlation of these lesions with factors such as splenectomy, thrombocytosis, and blood transfusions. A total of 26 patients with thalassemia major and 23 patients with sickle cell anemia were included. Ischemic lesions were categorized as lacunar, small vessel, or multifocal.

Endoscopic procedures, currently, are characterized by being minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic methods, which allow the management of a wide number of pathologies and in the hands of a good operator, present few complications. Both traumatic and spontaneous splenic rupture is a rare entity, mainly associated with abdominal trauma or splenomegaly due to hematological diseases, respectively. Splenic rupture secondary to endoscopic studies is a complication with a mortality close to 5%, of which only 100 cases have been reported to date, none of them in Colombia.
