The successful regeneration of a multifascicular, complete peripheral nerve through a tubular synthetic biodegradable nerve guide across a gap of 10 mm in the rat sciatic nerve is reported. The importance of the distal nerve as a source of target-derived neuronotrophic factors necessary for the successful regeneration of the proximal regenerating nerve is emphasized. A simplified research model for further investigation into and manipulation of the biological processes of nerve regeneration is described. The potential clinical utilization of this model in the management of peripheral nerve injuries and, ultimately, central nervous system lesions is mentioned.

Background:  Ultrasonographic measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) has been proposed as a non-invasive, bedside method to detect raised intracranial pressure (ICP) in various clinical settings. We aimed to correlate the ONSD obtained by ultrasonography (USG) with the ONSD obtained by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to find its measurement accuracy.

Methodology:  A prospective double-blind study was carried out by performing ocular ultrasounds on 32 patients with clinical features of intracranial hypertension.

Simultaneous complete oculomotor nerve palsy in herpes zoster ophthalmicus (HZO) is rare. We report a case of a 65-year-old lady who presented with a right drooping eyelid for 2 days associated with rashes over her right forehead. Examination showed crusted vesicular lesions on the right V1 dermatome with right complete ptosis, anisocoria, and limited right extraocular movement on all gazes except full movement on abduction.

Spinal cord injuries, including rare cases without radiological abnormalities, pose diagnostic challenges, particularly in cases of delayed neurological deficit development. This case report describes a 55-year-old man with a stable L1 burst fracture who developed delayed neurological deficits two weeks after sustaining a fall despite no evidence of intrinsic or extrinsic spinal cord abnormalities on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The patient initially presented with back pain, normal muscle strength across all myotomes, and imaging that showed no canal stenosis or retropulsion fragments.

Optic nerve disorders significantly contribute to visual impairment with irreversible visual deficits. Current treatments have limited efficacy in resolving chronic visual deficits, necessitating novel therapeutic strategies. Neurorehabilitation techniques, including repetitive transorbital alternating current stimulation (rtACS), have emerged as promising approaches to restore lost visual function through the ability to modulate brain activity.

Introduction: Pain at the buccal mucosal graft (BMG) harvest site in the immediate postoperative period is common and delays resumption of oral intake. This study compares the time for resumption of pain-free solid and liquid diets and postoperative pain scores at harvest site following the administration of inferior-alveolar nerve-block plus buccal-nerve block (IANB + BNB) versus placebo. We hypothesize that the intervention could decrease pain and aid in early food intake.
