A c-type lectin with dual function of immunology and mineralization from the freshwater oyster ( Lea).

Front Immunol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Freshwater Aquatic Genetic Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai, China.

Background: Shell and pearl formation in bivalves is a sophisticated biomineralization process that encompasses immunological and mineralization aspects, particularly during shell repair and the initial stages of pearl cultivation when a nucleus is inserted. Here, we describe a novel C-type lectin, HcLec1, isolated and characterized from the freshwater pearl mussel Lea.

Methods: Immune challenge, RNA interference (RNAi) experiments, ELISA, and antibacterial assays were employed to investigate the role of HcLec1 in innate immunity.

Background: Subjects with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID), such as rheumatoid arthritis, with tuberculosis infection (TBI), have a high probability of progressing to tuberculosis disease (TB). We aim to characterize the impact of IMID on the immune response to (Mtb) in patients with TBI and TB disease.

Methods: We enrolled TBI and TB patients with and without IMID.

Neurobrucellosis is a neurological disorder caused by Brucella infection. It typically occurs as part of the multisystem involvement of brucellosis, or may also present as brucellosis. The existing clinical practice guidelines and expert consensus on human brucellosis are outdated and provide limited guidance specific to the diagnosis and management of neurobrucellosis, failing to meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers and patients.

Cellular senescence in tumor immune escape: Mechanisms, implications, and therapeutic potential.

Crit Rev Oncol Hematol

January 2025

College of Life Science, Yangtze University, Jingzhou 434025, China. Electronic address:

Cellular senescence, a hallmark of aging, has emerged as a captivating area of research in tumor immunology with profound implications for cancer prevention and treatment. In the tumor microenvironment, senescent cells exhibit a dual role, simultaneously hindering tumor development through collaboration with immune cells and evading immune cell attacks by upregulating immunoinhibitory proteins. However, the intricate immune escape mechanism of cellular senescence in the tumor microenvironment remains a subject of intense investigation.
