Various solutions of extra- and intracellular, or non-electrolyte type supplemented with papaverine or lidocaine were administered by gravity perfusion to 60 dog kidneys. Cooling in the kidneys perfused with the solutions containing papaverine lowered the temperature of kidneys in significantly shorter time than in those containing lidocaine. The histological examinations revealed good perfusion with solutions containing papaverine; even the rim of the cortical substance has been freed of blood. Identical results could not be achieved with lidocaine. These results are to be considered in the clinical work.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the myocardial protective effect of Xuebijing (XBJ) injection in isolated donor heart preservation based on autophagy and NLRP3 inflammatory pathway, and to provide clues for improving the quality of donor heart preservation in the clinic.
Methods: Fourteen Guangxi Bama miniature pigs were randomly divided into two groups to establish the isolated heart perfusion model of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO): (1) normal saline group (NS group): 50 mL normal saline was added to the perfusion solution; and (2) Xuebijing injection group (XBJ group): 10 mL of XBJ was added to the perfusate. Both groups were continuously pumped with 5 mL/h for 8 hours.

During routine open heart surgery, suboptimal flow in the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit, led to the discovery of a type B aortic dissection with substantial flow in the false lumen. Conservative management was chosen, focusing on blood pressure control in the ICU.

Advancements in xenotransplantation intersecting with modern machine perfusion technology offer promising solutions to patients with liver failure providing a valuable bridge to transplantation and extending graft viability beyond current limitations. Patients facing acute or acute chronic liver failure, post-hepatectomy liver failure, or fulminant hepatic failure often require urgent liver transplants which are severely limited by organ shortage, emphasizing the importance of effective bridging approaches. Machine perfusion is now increasingly used to test and use genetically engineered porcine livers in translational studies, addressing the limitations and costs of non-human primate models.

Human brain organoids (HBOs) derived from pluripotent stem cells hold great potential for disease modeling and high-throughput compound screening, given their structural and functional resemblance to fetal brain tissues. These organoids can mimic early stages of brain development, offering a valuable in vitro model to study both normal and disordered neurodevelopment. However, current methods of generating HBOs are often low throughput and variable in organoid differentiation and involve lengthy, labor-intensive processes, limiting their broader application in both academic and industrial research.
