For the purpose of predicting the state of health of already used lithium-ion batteries from 85 kWh electric vehicles, a simplified equivalent circuit model is utilized to estimate the electrochemical time constant from constant current discharge profiles. The grading process among as-obtained LIB cells is classified into three level types according to the remaining capacity and direct current resistance. Theoretically, the logarithmic equation describing cycling behavior is derived and utilized in the prediction of the state of health of the used cells.

Sir Charles Bell (1774-1842) is Scottish physiologist, surgeon, artist, philosopher and anatomist. Throughout his professional career, Charles Bell made a number of important discoveries and published a large number of scientific papers. Bell first presented a detailed description of the clinical picture of facial palsy (later named after him) and a number of other neurological disorders, as well as important information about referred pain and reciprocal inhibition.

The chemistry of a fossilised elephant tooth: Domenico Morichini and the discovery of dental fluoride.

Br Dent J

October 2023

School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Milano-Bicocca, Monza, Italy; Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori, Monza, Italy.

On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Italian physician, Domenico Morichini (1773-1836), this study aims to commemorate this illustrious figure, who made a great contribution to the history of dentistry through his discovery of the presence of fluoride in dental enamel. Starting from a chemical analysis of the components of the enamel and osseous part of a fossilised elephant tooth discovered in Rome in 1802, Morichini demonstrated the presence of high amounts of fluoride, not only in these remains, but also in samples of human teeth. The Italian doctor, a Professor of Chemistry at the Sapienza University of Rome, also affirmed the importance of his discovery from a clinical perspective, as it enabled a better understanding of the chemical composition of enamel, changes in which he saw as the cause of most dental diseases.

Si anode has drawn growing attention because of its features of large specific capacity, low electrochemical potential, and high natural abundance. However, it suffers from severe electrochemical irreversibility due to its large volume change during cycling. In spite of the achievement of improved electrochemical performance after compositing with carbon materials, most of the reported Si/C composite anodes lack a simple preparation process.

Cobalt-Free Layered LiNiMnAlO/Graphene Aerogel Composite Electrode for Next-Generation Li-Ion Batteries.

ACS Omega

May 2023

Engineering Faculty, Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Sakarya University, Esentepe Campus, 54187 Adapazari Sakarya, Turkey.

In this work, we introduce LiNiMnAlO (NMA), which is cobalt-free and has a high nickel content, and a conductive composite material to NMA by supporting it with a three-dimensional (3D) graphene aerogel (GA). With an easy freeze-drying approach, NMA nanoparticles are properly dispersed on graphene sheets, and GA creates a strong and conductive framework, significantly improving the structure and conductivity. The structure of the pure NMA and NMA/graphene aerogel (NMA/GA) composite was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM).
