A modified thermal denaturation of human chromosomes in Hanks' solution at 91 degrees C produces highly contrasted C and T bands. This improved double-banding system is a good tool in the analysis of ring chromosomes, for which R banding is often inadequate, as it is exemplified.

Adding value to food by-products, such as pumpkin seeds, is an important strategy for the complete utilization of plant foods and advancing sustainability goals. This study aimed to maximize the production of bioactive peptides from pumpkin seed protein (PSP) by combining ultrasonic (US) pretreatment (40 kHz, 23.8 W/L) with enzymatic hydrolysis.

Inner speech refers to the silent production of language in one's mind. As a purely mental action without obvious physical manifestations, inner speech has been notoriously difficult to quantify. Inner speech is thought to be closely related to overt speech.

Porous earth materials exhibit large-scale deformation patterns, such as deformation bands, which emerge from complex small-scale interactions. This paper introduces a cross-diffusion framework designed to capture these multiscale, multiphysics phenomena, inspired by the study of multi-species chemical systems. A microphysics-enriched continuum approach is developed to accurately predict the formation and evolution of these patterns.

Two-dimensional materials with a combination of a moderate bandgap, highly anisotropic carrier mobility, and a planar structure are highly desirable for nanoelectronic devices. This study predicts a planar BeP monolayer with hexagonal symmetry that meets the aforementioned desirable criteria using the CALYPSO method and first-principles calculations. Calculations of electronic properties demonstrate that the hexagonal BeP monolayer is an intrinsic semiconductor with a direct band gap of approximately 0.

The hydroxysilylene (HSiOH) molecule has been spectroscopically identified in the gas phase for the first time. This highly reactive species was produced in a twin electric discharge jet using separate precursor streams of 16O2/18O2 and Si2H6/Si2D6, both diluted in high pressure argon. The strongest and most stable laser induced fluorescence (LIF) signals were obtained by applying an electric discharge to each of the precursor streams and then merging the discharge products just prior to expansion into vacuum.
