Single-cell multi-omics deciphers hepatocyte dedifferentiation and illuminates maintenance strategies.

Cell Prolif

MOE Key Laboratory of Bioinformatics, Beijing National Research Center for Information Science and Technology, Bioinformatics Division, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Due to the similarity to human hepatocytes, porcine hepatocytes play an important role in hepatic research and drug evaluation. However, once hepatocytes were cultured in vitro, it was often prone to dedifferentiate, resulting in the loss of their characteristic features and normal functions, which impede their application in liver transplantation and hepatotoxic drugs evaluation. Up to now, this process has yet to be thoroughly investigated from the single-cell resolution and multi-omics perspective.

Individuals with social anxiety disorder (SAD) experience significant and persistent fear of social situations as they anticipate rejection, scrutiny, and embarrassment. Given that physiological reactions to social situations may shape emotional experience in SAD, understanding psychophysiological changes operating in SAD may be important to address this potentially key perpetuating factor. This study compared the patterns of change (via contrasts of estimated marginal means) and persistence (via autoregressive models) of two indices of heart rate variability (HRV; Root Mean Square of Successive Differences between normal heartbeats, and High-Frequency absolute units) as physiological measures of emotion regulation, between individuals with SAD (n = 94) and without (n = 59) using the Trier Social Stress Test phases (TSST).

Purpose: While treatment modalities for Maisonneuve fractures involving the proximal third of the fibula are established, no studies to date have reported outcomes associated with syndesmotic-only fixation of middle third fibular shaft fractures. The purpose of this study was to evaluate outcomes associated with syndesmotic-only fixation in the treatment of Maisonneuve fractures involving the middle third of the fibula.

Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 257 cases of syndesmotic ankle instability with associated fibular fractures at a level 1 trauma center between 2013 and 2023.

Use of Deproteinized Bovine Bone in Association with Calcium Sulphate for Alveolar Socket Preservation.

Dentistry and Maxillo-Facial Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery, Dentistry, Paediatrics and Gynaecology (DIPSCOMI), University of Verona, Piazzale L.A. Scuro 10, 37134 Verona, Italy.

The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the histomorphometry of post-extractive sites previously grafted with deproteinized bovine bone, with or without the association of a calcium sulphate preparation. The retrospective evaluation comprehended patients previously selected and treated for the extraction of one or more mono-radicular teeth, followed by an implant-prosthetic rehabilitation. Post-extractive sites had been randomly assigned to test or control group, respectively, if deproteinized bovine bone was used in association with a calcium sulphate preparation or alone.

CD8+ and CD8- NK Cells and Immune Checkpoint Networks in Peripheral Blood During Healthy Pregnancy.

Int J Mol Sci

Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Medical School, University of Pecs, 12 Szigeti Street, 7624 Pecs, Hungary.

Pregnancy involves significant immunological changes to support fetal development while protecting the mother from infections. A growing body of evidence supports the importance of immune checkpoint pathways, especially at the maternal-fetal interface, although limited information is available about the peripheral expression of these molecules by CD8+ and CD8- NK cell subsets during the trimesters of pregnancy. Understanding the dynamics of these immune cells and their checkpoint pathways is crucial for elucidating their roles in pregnancy maintenance and potential complications.
