A case of Reiter disease in a HLA B27 positive man with urethritis followed by polyarthritis is reported. During the disease, serologic conversion for Yersinia enterocolitica type 9 was detected as well as positive serologic tests for Shigella flexneri and Chlamydia. The features of reactive arthritis related to Yersinia and the etiologies of Reiter disease are recalled.

Background: The shift to more environmentally sensitive agricultural practices over the last several decades has changed farmland landscapes worldwide. Changes including no-till and retaining high biomass mulch has been coincident with an increase in rodent pests in South Africa, India, South America and Europe, indicating a possible conflict between conservation agriculture (CA) and rodent pest management. They are structurally similar to yersiniabactin, which contributes to the virulence of the human pathogen . However, the -derived products feature various chain lengths and unusual carboxamide, thiocarboxylic acid, and dithioperoxoate termini, which are rarely found in thiotemplated biosyntheses.
