Combined cold and high moisture stress (CHS) is a prevalent abiotic stress during maize sowing in northeast China, severely affecting the growth of seedlings and seed germination. However, the mechanism underlying seed growth responses to CHS remains unclear. We used Jidan441 (JD441, CHS-resistant) and Jidan558 (JD558, CHS-sensitive) as experimental materials.

Natural variation in CTF1 conferring cold tolerance at the flowering stage in rice.

Plant Biotechnol J

January 2025

Rice Research Institute, Key Laboratory of Genetics and Breeding of High Quality Rice in Southern China (Co-construction by Ministry and Province), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Guangdong Key Laboratory of New Technology in Rice Breeding, Guangdong Rice Engineering Laboratory, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guangzhou, China.

Improving cold tolerance at the flowering stage (CTF) in rice is crucial for minimising yield loss, making the identification and application of cold-tolerant genes and QTLs imperative for effective molecular breeding. The long lead time, dependence on cold treatment conditions, and the inherent complexity of the trait make studying the genetic basis of CTF in rice challenging. To date, the fine-mapping or cloning of QTLs specific to CTF has not yet been achieved.

Introduction: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are recommended for pain treatment after elective hip and knee arthroplasties. However, evidence regarding the incidence of adverse effects with short-term NSAID treatment following surgery is limited. We, therefore, aim to assess the adverse effects with an eight-day postoperative treatment with ibuprofen after elective hip and knee arthroplasties.

Liver disease poses a significant threat to global public health, with arsenic (As) recognized as a major environmental toxin contributing to liver injury. However, the specific mechanisms and the protective effects of α-lipoic acid (LA) remain unclear. Therefore, this study employs network toxicology and network pharmacology to comprehensively analyze the hepatotoxic mechanism of As and the hepatoprotective mechanism of LA, and further verifies the mechanisms of peroxisomal β-oxidation and lipophagy in the process.
