We present a case of severe acute variceal bleeding in an ileal conduit stoma successfully managed with -hepatic -portal selective angioembolization as a lifesaving measure. Despite repeated transfusions, the patient's hemoglobin continued to be unstable. The patient underwent transhepatic embolization of ileal stoma varicose veins.

Percutaneous transhepatic obliteration (PTO) can facilitate antegrade embolization of variceal veins. We herein report three patients who underwent percutaneous transhepatic sclerotherapy (PTS) or percutaneous transportal outflow-vessel-occluded sclerotherapy (PTOS) for isolated gastric varices. PTS was performed in Cases 1 and 2, and PTOS was performed in Case 3.

Dietary palmitic acid (PA) promotes liver fibrosis in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Herein, we clarified the intestinal absorption kinetics of dietary PA and effect of trans-portal PA on the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) involved in liver fibrosis in NASH. Blood PA levels after meals were significantly increased in patients with NASH compared to those in the control.

Background: Arterioportal fistulas are rare vascular disorders of the abdominal viscera. They are arteriovenous communications between the splanchnic arteries and the portal vein or its tributaries. We herein report a case of an extrahepatic arterioportal fistula that was caused by rupture of a pseudoaneurysm of the pancreaticoduodenal artery and successfully treated with embolization using a combination of the arterial and percutaneous transhepatic portal venous approaches.

Background: Currently there is no consensus on the optimal management of small-for-size syndrome following liver transplantation. Here we describe a technique to alleviate portal hypertension and improve the hepatocyte reperfusion in small-for-size liver transplantation in a Lewis rat model.
Methods: The rats underwent trans-portal vein intra-hepatic portosystemic shunt using a self-developed porous conical tube (TPIPSS: Fig.
