Background: Tecovirimat, an antiviral treatment for smallpox, was approved as a treatment for mpox by the European Medicines Agency in January 2022. Approval was granted under "exceptional circumstances" based on effectiveness found in pre-clinical challenge studies in animals and safety studies in humans showing minimal side effects. Objectives: Trans and/or gender diverse (T/GD) people in the UK are less likely to access sexual health services (SHS) than cisgender people and are more likely to report negative experiences. The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) developed expert recommendations for T/GD-inclusive SHS, but these lack service user perspectives. This study addressed this gap by asking T/GD people how SHS could be T/GD-inclusive.

Prospective study on time-to-tertiary care in alcohol-associated hepatitis: space-time coordinates as prognostic tool and therapeutic target.

Alcohol Alcohol

January 2025

Subdivision of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 5th Department of Internal Medicine, Comenius University Faculty of Medicine, University Hospital Bratislava, Ružinovská 6, 826 06, Bratislava, Slovakia.

Background And Aims: Alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH) frequently triggers acute decompensation (AD) in cirrhosis, with severe AH linked to high short-term mortality, especially in acute-on-chronic liver failure. Current corticosteroid treatments have limited efficacy, highlighting the need for new therapies. We hypothesized that severe AH outcomes are influenced by early specialized care; thus, we examined the impact of time-to-tertiary care (TTTc).
