Malignancy of 6 independent hybrid clones derived from fusion of two tumor cell lines of Djungarian hamster, which had been transformed with SV40 virus, was studied. In most of the hybrid clones, suppression of the ability to grow progressively in vivo and the increase in the latent period of tumor occurrence were observed. These data bear witness to suggestion about the existence of different genetic alterations in these tumor cells. Suppression of malignancy does not depend on the genome mutations leading to cell polyploidization, since no decrease in tumorigenicity was found in polyploid cell clones of the high tumor cell line. These polyploid cells can actively form colonies in the soft agar medium.

Ependymoma (EPN) is a common form of brain tumor in children, often resistant to available cytotoxic therapies. Molecular profiling studies have led to a better understanding of EPN subtypes and revealed a critical role of oncogenes ZFTA-RELA fusion and EPHB2 in supratentorial ependymoma (ST-EPN). However, the immune system's role in tumor progression and response to therapy remains poorly understood.

Background: The clinical implications of different EML4-ALK fusion variants remain poorly elucidated in the era of second-generation ALK inhibitors.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study, wherein patients diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer harboring EML4-ALK fusion were stratified into two cohorts based on their first-line treatment: Cohort 1 received alectinib, while Cohort 2 received crizotinib. Statistical analysis was employed to investigate the impact of different EML4-ALK variants and TP53 status on the efficacy of first-line ALK-TKIs.

The () gene family is of rising importance as their fusions are oncogenic, and specific target drugs are available to inhibit the chimera proteins. Pan-TRK antibody, which shows the overexpression of the genes, is a useful tool to detect tumors with or without gene alterations, due to high negative predictive value. Though it is well known that pan-TRK immunopositivity is usually not connected to fusion, the role of other possible genetic alterations is under-researched.

Introduction: SPLASH (NCT04647526) is a multicenter phase III trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of [Lu]Lu-PNT2002 radioligand therapy in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). This study leveraged a lead-in phase to assess tissue dosimetry and evaluate preliminary safety and efficacy, prior to expansion into a randomized phase. Here we report those results.

Background: Prone transpsoas lumbar interbody fusion (PTP) is a newer technique to treat various spinal disc pathologies. PTP is a variation of lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) that is performed with the patient prone rather than in the lateral decubitus position. This approach offers similar benefits of lateral spinal surgery, which include less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery compared with traditional open spine surgery.
