Significant hourly variation in the carbon intensity of electricity supplied to wastewater facilities introduces an opportunity to lower emissions by shifting the timing of their energy demand. This shift could be accomplished by storing wastewater, biogas from sludge digestion, or electricity from on-site biogas generation. However, the life cycle emissions and cost implications of these options are not clear.

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are highly valued for their chemical stability, tunable size, and biocompatibility. Utilizing green chemistry, a microwave-assisted synthesis method was employed to produce water-soluble GQDs from Mangifera Indica leaf extract. This approach is efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, offering reduced reaction times, energy consumption, and uniform particle sizes, and has proven advantageous over other methods.

Biological neural systems seamlessly integrate perception and action, a feat not efficiently replicated in current physically separated designs of neural-imitating electronics. This segregation hinders coordination and functionality within the neuromorphic system. Here, we present a flexible device tailored for neuromorphic computation and muscle actuation.

Transdermal drug delivery presents a compelling alternative to both needle injection and oral ingestion of medication, as it enhances patient adherence and convenience through its non-invasive and painless administration method. The use of microneedles penetrates the barrier of the stratum corneum, facilitating the sustained delivery of drugs across the skin. However, their efficacy has been limited by the slow diffusion of molecules and often requires external triggers.

Hydroxyl radical (·OH) plays a crucial role in atmospheric chemistry, regulating the oxidative potential and aerosol composition. This study reveals an unprecedented source of ·OH in the atmosphere: mineral dust-bearing microdroplet aerosols. We demonstrate that Kaolin clay particles in microdroplet aerosols trigger rapid ·OH production upon solar irradiation, with rates reaching an order of at least 10 M s.
