The developmental pattern of prolactin receptors was examined in intact interstitial cells isolated from testes of 19-day old foetuses (F19), 1 to 45-day immature (N1 to N45) and adult animals. The prolactin binding activity in F19 interstitial cells is low, being 27% of that found in cells of the adult. There is an abrupt 60% increase in prolactin binding immediately after birth (N1), followed by a slow, but gradual, increase for the next 34 and adulthood which follows an increment in serum prolactin concentrations after day 24. Equilibrium analysis revealed that the receptors In interstitial cells from N1, N34 and adults have similar affinity (Kd = 2.7 to 3.3 x 10(-10)M) for prolactin. However, cells from adults contain twice as many prolactin receptors per cell as that of immature animals. This increase in prolactin receptors may play a role in the modulation of interstitial (Leydig) cell function during sexual maturation.

Amylin analogs, including potential anti-obesity therapies like cagrilintide, act on neurons in the brainstem dorsal vagal complex (DVC) that express calcitonin receptors (CALCR). These receptors, often combined with receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs), mediate the suppression of food intake and body weight. To understand the molecular and neural mechanisms of cagrilintide action, we used single-nucleus RNA sequencing to define 89 cell populations across the rat, mouse, and non-human primate caudal brainstem.

Kisspeptin (KISS1), originally catalogued as metastin because of its capacity as a metastasis suppressor in human melanoma and breast cancer, is now recognized as the major puberty gatekeeper and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neuroendocrine system modulator. It is a member of the family of RFamide-related peptides that also includes the neuropeptide FF group, the gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone, the prolactin-releasing peptide, and the 26RFa peptides. The KISS1 precursor peptide is processed into a family of peptides known as kisspeptins.

This narrative review describes the provenance and chemical composition of Vitex agnus-castus, as well as the currently available knowledge concerning its action. To search the related articles, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS databases between the years 1995 and 2024, and the keywords "Vitex," "review," "fertility," "ovarian" and "mechanisms" were used in various combinations. The data listed in this review demonstrate that Vitex agnus-castus and its constituents (isoflavones and essential oils) affect a number of physiological actions via multiple extra- and intracellular mechanisms of action.

Here, deletion of the prolactin receptor (Prlr) from forebrain neurons or arcuate kisspeptin neurons resulted in failure to maintain normal lactation-induced suppression of estrous cycles. Kisspeptin immunoreactivity and pulsatile LH secretion were increased in these mice, even in the presence of ongoing suckling stimulation and lactation.

Based on an exhaustive review, a theory was proposed with an immunoendocrine perspective on the reactivation of dormant Toxocara canis larvae in pregnant bitches and their transmission to fetuses through the placenta, or milk and colostrum to puppies. A historical review was carried out on the reactivation of dormant larvae of T. canis in pregnant bitches which suggested that larval reactivation of T.
