Several treatment modalities have been used for the treatment of keloid scarring but the optimal treatment has not yet been identified. Corticosteroids reduce excessive scarring by reducing collagen synthesis. Vitamin D can curb inflammation by inhibiting the activation and migration of leukocytes.

Fungal spores are abundant in the environment and a major cause of asthma. Originally characterised as a type 2 inflammatory disease, allergic airway inflammation that underpins asthma can also involve type 17 inflammation, which can exacerbate disease causing failure of treatments tailored to inhibit type 2 factors. However, the mechanisms that determine the host response to fungi, which can trigger both type 2 and type 17 inflammation in allergic airway disease, remain unclear.

Cetaceans have adapted to aquatic life by evolving various anatomic and physiologic traits, but biological defense mechanisms specific to aquatic mammals that protect against pathogenic microorganisms in the aquatic environment have not been elucidated. In this study, we investigated the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in bottlenose dolphins in response to various chemotactic factors and compared the migration response with that of terrestrial animals such as cows and humans to characterize biological defense mechanisms unique to cetaceans. Bottlenose dolphin neutrophils showed strong chemotactic activity toward zymosan-activated serum and recombinant human interleukin-8 but no chemotaxis toward N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine or leukotriene B at any concentration examined.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies have revolutionized the landscape of cancer treatment, in particular in the context of hematologic malignancies. However, for solid tumors that lack tumor-specific antigens, CAR-T cells can infiltrate and attack nonmalignant tissues expressing the CAR target antigen, leading to on-target, off-tumor toxicity. Severe on-target, off-tumor toxicities have been observed in clinical trials of CAR-T therapy for solid tumors, highlighting the need to address this issue.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae caused lower respiratory tract infection in children and can exacerbate these infections through the production of various inflammatory factors, with chemokines playing a key role. However, the pathogenesis of this infection is complicated and thus has not been thoroughly studied. We clarified that cytokine expression levels were analyzed in both peripheral blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and in vitro assays were conducted using THP-1 macrophages.
