Kisspeptins are reported to be the most potent activators of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis known to date. Kisspeptin potently elicits gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) release and luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion, even in the pre-pubertal period. Beyond the hypothalamus, kisspeptin is also expressed in limbic and paralimbic brain regions, which are areas of the neurobiological network primarily implicated in emotional behaviors alongside sexual functions.

Ovarian development significantly influences the laying performance of geese. In this study, the transcriptome analysis was conducted on the ovarian tissues of Wanxi White Geese during the pre-laying (KL), laying (CL), and ceased-laying period (XL). Short Time-series Expression Miner (STEM) analysis and miRNA-mRNA regulatory network construction were performed to identify the key genes and miRNAs regulating laying traits.

GnRH governs reproduction by regulating pituitary gonadotropins. Unlike most vertebrates, gnrh-/- zebrafish are fertile. To elucidate the role of the hypophysiotropic-Gnrh3 and other mechanisms regulating pituitary gonadotropes, we profiled the gene expression of all individual pituitary cells of wild-type and gnrh3-/- adult female zebrafish.

17β-Trenbolone (17-TB) is well documented as an environmental endocrine disruptor in aquatic biological studies, but its effects on mammals remain poorly understood. Furthermore, 17-TB acts as a hormone with properties similar to testosterone, and the consequences of juvenile exposure on adult social behavior remain uncertain. Bisphenol A (BPA) acts as an estrogen-like hormone, compared to 17-TB.
