Background: Regional distribution of neurofibrillary tangles consisting of hyperphosphorylated tau correlates strongly with the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Misfolded proteopathic tau templates the conversion of naive tau into a pathological state in a prion-like fashion, which underlies the spreading of tau pathology in the brain. Whether hyperphosphorylation triggers tau aggregation or hyperphosphorylation occurs after aggregation is under much debate.

Background: Our lab recently developed 2 mouse monoclonal antibodies that preferentially react with "distressed astrocytes". One monoclonal, 26A6, was found to react preferentially with a form of the Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein phosphatase, calcineurin (CN), that has been cleaved by calpain, to generate a 48 kDa CN fragment (∆CN). We recently published a characterization of this antibody.

Background: Cardiometabolic disorders represent a pressing public health challenge and confer heightened susceptibility to age-related cognitive decline, including increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease (AD). There is a strong genetic component underlying risks for these conditions, and human Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) have associated the PPP1R3B genetic locus with both cardiometabolic dysfunction and AD. PPP1R3B protein is primarily expressed in liver hepatocytes, regulating liver glycogen metabolism.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of thermogenic supplementation on the bone tissue of rats subjected to orthodontic movement. A total of 38 male Wistar rats underwent orthodontic movement of the left permanent maxillary first molars for 21 days. The rats were assigned to three groups: Control group: water; Thermogenic 1: C4 Beta Pump thermogenic; or Thermogenic 2: PRE-HD/Pre-workout.
