Unlabelled: , a common commensal bacterium, is a leading cause of nosocomial catheter-associated bloodstream infections. sequence type 2 (ST2) is specifically recognized globally for causing invasive disease. In this study, we identified a novel putative integrated conjugative element, pICE-Sepi-ST2, unique to the genomes of ST2.

Introduction: Prompt resolution of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) thrombosis is essential to minimize the need for temporary dialysis catheters. Identifying the ideal timing for the management of thrombosed arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is an area that has not been thoroughly explored. Herein, we examined a local infusion of urokinase for thrombolysis followed by ultrasound-guided percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty (PTA) in acute and subacute AVF thromboses.

Epigenetic regulations, such as DNA methylation and microRNAs, play an important role in renal fibrosis. Here, we report the regulation of microRNA219a-2 by DNA methylation in fibrotic kidneys, unveiling the crosstalk between these epigenetic mechanisms. Through genome-wide DNA methylation analysis and pyrosequencing, we detected the hypermethylation of microRNA219a-2 in renal fibrosis induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) or renal ischemia/reperfusion, which was accompanied by a significant decrease in microRNA-219a-5p expression.

Tumor growth depends on angiogenesis, a process by which new blood vessel are formed from pre-existing normal blood vessels. Proteolytic fragments of plasminogen, containing varying numbers of plasminogen kringle domains, collectively known as angiostatin, are a naturally occurring inhibitor of angiogenesis and inhibit tumor growth. We have developed an "affinity-capture reactor" that enables a single-step method for the production/purification of an angiostatin-like plasminogen fragment from human plasma using an immobilized bacterial metalloproteinase.
