Sterile alpha and Toll/interleukin-1 receptor motif containing 1 (SARM1), a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-utilizing enzyme, mediates axon degeneration (AxD) in various neurodegenerative diseases. It is activated by nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) to produce a calcium messenger, cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR). This activity is blocked by elevated NAD level.

Theta oscillations of the mammalian amygdala are associated with processing, encoding and retrieval of aversive memories. In the hippocampus, the power of the network theta oscillation is modulated by basal forebrain (BF) GABAergic projections. Here, we combine anatomical and computational approaches to investigate if similar BF projections to the amygdaloid complex provide an analogous modulation of local network activity.

Sensitive and accurate detection and imaging of different microRNAs (miRNAs) in cancer cells hold great promise for early disease diagnosis. Herein, a DNA tetrahedral scaffold (DTS)-corbelled autonomous-motion (AM) molecular machine based fluorescent sensing platform was designed for simultaneous detection of two types of miRNAs (miRNA-21 and miRNA-155) in HeLa cells. Locking-strand-silenced DNAzymes (P:L duplex) were firstly grafted at the loop of target-analogue-embedded double-stem hairpin substrates (TDHS) of DTS, making the sensor in a "signal off" state due to the closely distance between modified fluorophores (FAM and Cy5) with the corresponding quenchers (BHQ1 and BHQ2).

detection of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is critical for understanding its complex physiological and pathological roles. Fluorescent probes, known for their sensitivity and selectivity, are the preferred approach for such detections. Anthracene carboxyimide, an analog of naphthalimide, offers extended excitation and emission wavelengths, making it an excellent candidate for developing new fluorescent probes that address the limitations of naphthalimide.

Molecular materials that exhibit synergistic coupling between luminescence and spin-crossover (SCO) behaviors hold significant promise for applications in molecular sensors and memory devices. However, the rational design and underlying coupling mechanisms remain substantial challenges in this field. In this study, we utilized a luminescent complementary ligand pair as an intramolecular luminophore to construct a new Fe-based SCO complex, namely [FeLL](BF)·HO (1-Fe, L is a 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (TPY) derivative ligand and L is 2,6-di-1-pyrazol-1-yl-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid), and two isomorphic analogs (2-Co, [CoLL](BF)·HO and 3-Zn, [ZnLL](BF)·HO).
