Background: Defects in the abdominal wall of horses have high relapse rate. This is mainly in lateral eventrations and hernias caused by trauma from kicks of other horses or installation structures. The eventration region normally becomes swollen and there may be complications due to intestinal loop incarceration.

Diaphragmatic hernia in adults often presents with overlapping respiratory and abdominal symptoms. They may be simple diaphragmatic eventrations or undiagnosed Bochdalek's hernias or may even be of post traumatic variety. Diaphragmatic hernias may be asymptomatic, present only with respiratory symptoms, or may present with obstruction and strangulation of involved bowel loops with faeco-pneumothorax.

We report two patients who developed a post-traumatic flank hernia manifested several months after road traffic accidents. The diagnosis was missed and established later when a swelling appeared in he flank. CT Scan found a large parietal defect.
