Multiple forms of RNA polymerases (I, II and III) from murine leukemia L1210 cells are solubilized, purified and characterized. Heterogeneity of RNA polymerases I and III is revealed by chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex and Phosphocellulose (P-11). The properties of these forms such as peculiarities of transcription of native and denaturated DNA, metal ion dependence (Mg2+, Mn2+ and (NH4)2SO4) and alpha-amanitin sensitivity resemble those reported for other mammalian RNA polymerases. The level of RNA polymerase I of leukemia L1210 cells increase approximately ten-fold relative to its level in some organs of healthy mice.

A new psammaplysin derivative, ceratinadin G (), was obtained from the Okinawan marine sponge sp., and the gross structure was clarified through spectroscopic and spectrometric analyses. The absolute configuration of compound was established by comparing its NMR and ECD data with those of the known psammaplysin derivative, psammaplysin F ().

Article Synopsis
  • - 6-Mercaptopurine (6-MP) is commonly used for leukemia and inflammatory bowel disease, but it has serious side effects like gastrointestinal issues and liver toxicity, which can cause patients to stop treatment and increase relapse risk.
  • - Research has identified the SLC43A3 gene, which encodes the ENBT1 transporter responsible for moving 6-MP into human cells, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract, bone marrow, and liver, though its connection to 6-MP side effects is still unclear.
  • - By studying both human and mouse models, findings indicate that the ENBT1 transporter functions similarly in both species, suggesting that mouse models could be useful for understanding how changes in ENBT1 impact

Immunobiological activity of selected decyl and (thio)dodecyl hexopyranosides based on d-glucose, d-galactose, N-acetyl d-glucosamine and d-mannose and their effect on leukemia cell lines L1210 and HL-60 and Candida's biofilm were studied. Alkyl d-glucosides and d-galactosides showed mainly similar antiproliferative properties on leukemia cell lines, while N-acetyl d-glucosaminides revealed diverse properties with lower efficacy. Also, the cytokine response of RAW 264.

(+)-Plakevulin A (1), an oxylipin isolated from an Okinawan sponge Plakortis sp. inhibits enzymatic inhibition of DNA polymerases (pols) α and δ and exhibits cytotoxicity against murine leukemia (L1210) and human cervix carcinoma (KB) cell lines. However, the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC) value for cytotoxicity significantly differed from those observed for the enzymatic inhibition of pols α and β, indicating the presence of target protein(s) other than pols.

Objectives: The eradication of leukemia cells while sparing hematopoietic stem cells in the graft before autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant is critical to prevention of leukemia relapse. Proliferating cells have been shown to be more prone to apoptosis than differentiated cells in response to ultraviolet radiation; however, whether leukemia cells are more sensitive to ultraviolet LED radiation than hematopoietic stem cells remains unclear.

Materials And Methods: We compared the in vitro responses between murine leukemia L1210 cells and murine hematopoietic stem cells to 280-nm ultraviolet LED radiation.
