The photochemistry of nitrous acid (HONO) plays a crucial role in atmospheric chemistry as it serves as a key source of hydroxyl radicals (OH) in the atmosphere; however, our comprehension of the underlying mechanism for the photochemistry of HONO especially in the presence of water is far from being complete as the transient intermediates in the photoreactions have not been observed. Herein, we report the photochemistry of microsolvated HONO by water in a cryogenic N matrix. Specifically, the 1:1 hydrogen-bonded water complex of HONO was facially prepared in the matrix through stepwise photolytic O oxidation of the water complex of imidogen (NH-HO) via the intermediacy of the elusive water complex of peroxyl isomer HNOO.

The spontaneous aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) leads to neuronal cell death in the brain and causes the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The efficient detection of the aggregation state of Aβ holds significant promise for the early diagnosis and subsequent treatment of this neurodegenerative disorder. Currently, most of the fluorescent probes used for the detection of Aβ fibrils share similar recognition moieties, such as the ,-dimethylamino group, ,-diethylamino group, and piperidyl group.

Objectives: Amikacin is crucial for treating Mycobacterium abscessus (Mab) infections, with resistance primarily attributed to rrs gene mutations. The correlation between specific mutations and amikacin susceptibility, along with the associated fitness cost, requires further investigation.
Methods: We isolated spontaneous amikacin-resistant mutants in vitro and identified their mutation sites in the rrs gene via Sanger sequencing, which were then compared with existing reports.

Introduction: Recurrent uveitis (RU), an autoimmune disease, is a leading cause of ocular detriment in humans and horses. Equine and human RU share many similarities including spontaneous disease and aberrant cytokine signaling. Reduced levels of SOCS1, a critical regulator of cytokine signaling, is associated with several autoimmune diseases.

Background: Rho GTPases are essential regulators for cellular movement and intracellular membrane trafficking. Their enzymatic activities fluctuate between active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound states regulated by GTPase activating proteins (GAPs) and guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs). Arhgap39/Vilse/Porf-2 is a newly identified GAP.
