Morphopathology of mixed sweat-gland tumors.

Morphol Embryol (Bucur)

Published: March 1983

Mixed sweat-gland tumors were studied on 11 biopsies, of which two showed clear-cut morphological features of malignancy. Stress was laid upon the sudoriferous-duct histogenesis of such tumors. Several peculiarities were carefully investigated, especially epithelial proliferation in sheets, cords, tubes, isolated cells and certain epithelial metaplasias correlated with various mesenchymal stroma changes, such as fibrosis, myxoid, chondroid or even osseous changes. Special emphasis was also laid upon the comparative aspects between benign and malignant mixed sweat-gland tumors and other similar body tumors.

Chondroid syringoma, a mixed tumor of the skin, is an acquired hamartoma that differentiates into hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and apocrine sweat glands. Chondroid syringoma in the ear region is exceptionally rare. However, we present 2 cases of ear chondroid syringoma: 1 involving multiple lesions in the external auditory canal and the other including a single lesion behind the auricle.

Separate and combined blockades of α- and β-adrenergic receptors in forearm sweating induced by adrenergic agents and exercise in the heat in young adults.

Laboratory for Applied Human Physiology, Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, Kobe University, Kobe, Japan.

The assessment of adrenergic modulation of sweating as assessed via pharmacologic administration of α- and β-adrenergic receptor blockers during exercise has yielded mixed findings. However, the underlying mechanisms for this disparity remain unresolved. We investigated the effects of separate and combined blockade of α- and β-adrenergic receptors on forearm sweating induced by a 30-min moderate-intensity exercise bout ( = 17, ) and the administration of adrenergic agonists epinephrine and norepinephrine ( = 16, ) in the heat.

Introduction: Cutaneous chondroid syringoma (CS) is a rare benign mixed skin tumor originating from sweat glands. Despite its rarity, accurate diagnosis and management are crucial due to its potential for malignant transformation.

Objective: This study aimed to provide comprehensive insights into the main features of cutaneous CS, encompassing its epidemiology, clinical presentation, and particularly, dermoscopic findings.

Introduction And Importance: Chondroid syringoma also referred to as a mixed tumor, is a benign and rare tumor originating from apocrine or eccrine sweat glands; it predominantly affects middle-aged men. While fine-needle aspiration cytology can aid in diagnosis, histological confirmation remains essential due to the potential for misdiagnosis.

Case Presentation: A-22-year-old male who presented with a solitary, slow-growing, painless, erythematous nodule on the right nasal wing that had been present for 1 year, which was misdiagnosed as an epidermal cyst.
