Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) has transformed forensic DNA analysis but is still limited when dealing with compromised trace or inhibitor-containing samples. Nanotechnology has been integrated into nanoPCR (nanoparticle-assisted PCR) to overcome these obstacles. Nanomaterials improve PCR sensitivity, selectivity, and efficiency.

BRAF mutations drive initiation and progression of various tumors. While BRAF inhibitors are effective in BRAF-mutant melanoma patients, intrinsic or acquired resistance to these therapies is common. Here, we identify non-receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase 23 (PTPN23) as an alternative effective target in BRAF-mutant cancer cells.

This study assessed the anti-diabetic potential and bioactive constituents of ten Sri Lankan medicinal herbs. Initial screening of aqueous extracts for starch-digesting enzyme inhibition prioritised three plants with notable activity ( ≤ 0.05), for further assessment using methanolic extracts: (PE), (CA), and (HI).

Metal-free boron-based materials exhibit remarkable performance in oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP). Rational design of boron-based catalysts requires a systematic understanding of the underlying mechanisms to constitute a knowledge base. This work provides a comprehensive view of the reaction mechanism of the boron-based ODH reaction and discusses the key features of the reaction systems, including the inhibition of deep oxidation, high olefin selectivity, and the role of water in the ODHP reaction.

While there is growing evidence highlighting the crucial role of the BM microenvironment (BMME) in MDS, the specific influence of inflammation on BMME changes, as well as the potential benefits of targeting cytokines therapeutically, remain to be elucidated. We previously found interleukin-1 (IL-1) to be a driver of aging phenotypes of BMME and hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs).
