Pericardial adhesions pose a major problem during reoperative cardiac surgical procedures. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of intrapericardial dextran 70 on the formation of pericardial adhesions in an animal model. The data obtained revealed that intrapericardial dextran 70 reduced the incidence of experimental pericardial adhesions.

The systemic inflammatory response after cardiopulmonary bypass has been widely studied. However, there is a paucity of studies that focus on the local inflammatory changes that occur in the pericardial cavity. The purpose of this study is to assess the inflammatory mediators in the pericardial fluid of patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Research towards regenerative dentistry focused on developing scaffold materials whose high performance induces cell adhesion support and guides tissue growth. An early study investigated the proliferation abilities and attachment of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPLFs) on two bovine pericardium membranes with different thicknesses, 0.2 mm and 0.

Postsurgical adhesions are a common complication associated with surgical procedures; they not only impact the patient's well-being but also impose a financial burden due to medical expenses required for reoperative surgeries or adhesiolysis. Adhesions can range from a filmy, fibrinous, or fibrous vascular band to a cohesive attachment, and they can form in diverse anatomical locations such as the peritoneum, pericardium, endometrium, tendons, synovium, and epidural and pleural spaces. Numerous strategies have been explored to minimize the occurrence of postsurgical adhesions.

Aims: This study aimed to explore the correlation between radiomics features of pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) and gene expression in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), with the goal of identifying novel imaging biomarkers for evaluating CAD.
Methods: Between November 2021 and May 2022, data were collected from 60 patients diagnosed with CAD who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Samples of PCAT, three additional adipose tissue types, and peripheral venous blood were analysed.
