We used sheep erythrocyte (SRBC) E-rosetting, nylon wool fractionation thymectomy and nonspecific esterase staining to assess T-lymphocyte characteristics in Rana pipiens during various developmental stages. T-lymphocytes appear in the spleens of premetamorphic tadpoles. We found significant levels of lymphocytes classifiable as T-cells in the peripheral blood of adults, but fewer numbers of T-cells in the thymus, jugular bodies, spleen, pronephros, mesonephros, liver and bone marrow. In addition, thymectomized Xenopus laevis showed a sharp decrease in T-cells as evidenced by E-rosetting, ANAE stain and nylon wool fractionation. The presence of T-lymphocytes in anuran amphibians and the existence of a receptor for SRBC on a population of these cells, suggest conservation of T-cells during evolution.

Development of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO) dyeing technology for natural fabrics and their blended fabrics is essential for the textile industry due to environmental and economic considerations. Wool (W), polyester (PET) and nylon (N) fabrics and their wool/polyester (W/PET) and wool/nylon (W/N) blended fabrics were dyed in SC-CO medium with a synthesized reactive disperse dye containing a vinylsulphone (VS) reactive group, which behaves as a disperse dye for synthetic fibers and a reactive dye for protein fibers. The SC-CO dyeing performance of all fabrics was investigated in terms of color strength, fixation, colorimetric and fastness measurements and compared with the conventional aqueous dyeing method.

Seaweed-derived alginate shows promise in the textile industry as a sustainable alternative to synthetic and natural materials. However, challenges arise due to its low mechanical strength. We addressed this limitation by sustainably extracting alginates from European brown algae and employing novel manufacturing methods.

CAR-T cell therapy has emerged as a potent and effective tool in the immunotherapy of refractory cancers. However, challenges exist in their clinical application, necessitating extensive preclinical research to optimize their function. Various preclinical in vitro and in vivo models have been proposed for such purpose; among which immunocompetent mouse models serve as an invaluable tool in studying host immune interactions within a more realistic simulation of the tumor milieu.

Microplastics are an emerging anthropogenic pollutant risk with a significant body of research dedicated to understanding the implications further. To generate the databases required to characterize the impact of microplastics on our environment, and improve recovery and recycling of current plastic materials, we need rapid, in-line characterization that can distinguish individual polymer types. Here, autofluorescence spectroscopy was investigated as an alternative characterization method to the current leading techniques based on vibrational spectroscopy.
