Alpha 2u globulin, a protein of unknown function so far believed to be synthesized exclusively in the male liver under multihormonal control, is now shown to be localized by immunocytochemistry in the granular convoluted tubules of the adult male submaxillary gland. In addition, using Northern blot analysis, we have shown specific alpha 2u globulin mRNA sequences in the RNA extracted from the submaxillary gland. Thus, it is evident that the protein is being synthesized therein. Alpha 2u globulin was also detected in the submaxillary gland duct cells of adult female and immature animals of both sexes, all of which are known not to synthesize alpha 2u globulin in their livers. The present data have established that alpha 2u globulin is synthesized in the rat submaxillary gland and indicate that the control of alpha 2u globulin gene expression in the rat liver and in the submaxillary gland is different.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, is characterized by mitochondrial dysfunction and immune dysregulation. This study is aimed at developing a risk prediction model for AD by integrating multi-omics data and exploring the interplay between mitochondrial energy metabolism-related genes (MEMRGs) and immune cell dynamics. We integrated four GEO datasets (GSE132903, GSE29378, GSE33000, GSE5281) for differential gene expression analysis, functional enrichment, and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA).

Background: Early identification of the risk of early cancer-related death (within one year, ECRD) due to recurrence after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B/C is important for surgeons to make clinical decisions. Our study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict the ECRD due to recurrence for HCC patients with BCLC stage B/C.
Methods: A total of 672 HCC patients with BCLC stages B/C from four medical centers between January 2012 and December 2018 were included in our study.

Aims: This study explores the link between body mass index (BMI), intestinal permeability, and associated changes in anthropometric and impedance parameters, lipid profiles, inflammatory markers, fecal metabolites, and gut microbiota taxa composition in participants having excessive body mass.
Methods: A cohort of 58 obese individuals with comparable diet, age, and height was divided into three groups based on a priori clustering analyses that fit with BMI class ranges: Group I (25-29.9), Group II (30-39.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder influenced by proteins involved in skin barrier maintenance and vitamin D metabolism. Using an intra-patient design, this study compared protein expression in intra-lesional (IL) and peri-lesional (PL) skin biopsies from AD patients and examined associations between protein levels, vitamin D status, and clinical features. Forty-four biopsies from twenty-two AD patients were analyzed using antibody microarrays targeting twelve proteins.
