Introduction: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by inflammation and ulceration of the digestive tract.

Methods: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with a novel photosensitizer LD was used to treat UC rat models to explore the therapeutic effect and mechanism of LD-PDT on UC. 16S ribosomal RNA was used to detect the composition of Gut microbiota.

Many forms of bioimage analysis involve the detection of objects and their outlines. In the context of microscopy-based high-throughput drug and genomic screening and even in smaller scale microscopy experiments, the objects that most often need to be detected are cells. In order to develop and benchmark algorithms and neural networks that can perform this task, high-quality datasets with annotated cell outlines are needed.

Members of the families Thermosynechococcaceae and Thermostichaceae are well-known unicellular thermophilic cyanobacteria and a non-thermophilic genus was newly classified into the former. Analysis of the codon usage bias (CUB) of cyanobacterial species inhabiting different thermal and non-thermal niches will benefit the understanding of their genetic and evolutionary characteristics. Herein, the CUB and codon context patterns of protein-coding genes were systematically analyzed and compared between members of the two families.

Long-term effects of combining anaerobic digestate with other organic waste products on soil microbial communities.

Agroécologie, French National Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE), Institut Agro, Université Bourgogne, Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté, Dijon, France.

Introduction: Agriculture is undergoing an agroecological transition characterized by adopting new practices to reduce chemical fertilizer inputs. In this context, digestates are emerging as sustainable substitutes for mineral fertilizers. However, large-scale application of digestates in agricultural fields requires rigorous studies to evaluate their long-term effects on soil microbial communities, which are crucial for ecosystem functioning and resilience.

Objective: This study aims to explore the therapeutic mechanism of Massa Medicata Fermentata (MMF) with different formulations on spleen deficiency constipation in mice by analyzing gastrointestinal hormones, D-xylose, intestinal microbiota, and intestinal enzyme activities.

Methods: A spleen deficiency constipation model was established using an oral administration of Sennae Folium decoction combined with controlled diet and water intake. After successful model establishment, the mice with spleen deficiency constipation were treated with MMF S1, S2, S3.
