Complexes of dextran 20 000 with haemoglobins of sheep, rabbit, dog, bovine and human origin were prepared through alkylation of haemoglobin by N-bromoacetylaminoethylamino-dextran. The yields were uniformly high. Complex-formation in each case was accompanied by the disappearance of reactive thiol groups on the haemoglobin, and by an increase in the affinity of the haemoglobin for oxygen. The immunological properties of dog, rabbit and sheep dextran-haemoglobin were investigated in both homologous and heterologous species. The complexes were found to be non-immunogenic in the homologous species. In heterologous species the anti-haemoglobin response induced by each complex was generally of a similar level to that induced by the haemoglobin alone.

Since red beans have poor textural properties, fermentation is commonly used to help produce better pulse products. To obtain BLR-E50, red beans are fermented using a co-culture of Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus bulgaricus, followed by extraction with 50% ethanol. The present data demonstrate that BLR-E50 did not exhibit mutagenicity, genotoxicity, or subacute oral toxicity.

Background: Aerobic vaginitis (AV) is a state of abnormal vaginal microbiota, which is associated with increased numbers of aerobic, enteric bacteria and inflammation of the vaginal epithelium. Anti-microbial treatment combined with anti-inflammatory therapy could be useful in the treatment of this condition. It is known that calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, plays an important role in modulating the immune response in several inflammatory diseases.

Chitinase plays a role in mammalian immune responses, particularly in the degradation of fungal cell walls. The aim of the present study was to express and characterize recombinant mouse chitotriosidase (Chit1) and acidic mammalian chitinase (AMCase) without the ZZ domain, a domain that may interfere with immunological analyses. We successfully expressed recombinant chitinases without the ZZ domain (Chit1-V5-His and AMCase-V5-His) as a soluble protein from an expression vector pET21a in the Escherichia coli Rosetta-gami B (DE3) strain.

Bazhen Decoction (Eight Treasures Decoction) has demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), yet the active ingredients in it and the mechanisms underlying their anti-cancer properties are not well understood. Through network pharmacology, the effective components of Bazhen Decoction against CRC and their corresponding key genes were delineated. Molecular docking was executed to identify the active component targeting the key gene CXCL8, which led to the discovery of Quercetin.

Leishmaniasis is a chronic inflammatory zoonotic illness caused by protozoan flagellates belonging to the genus. Current data suggest that over 1 billion people worldwide are susceptible to infection, primarily in tropical and subtropical countries, where up to 2 million new cases are reported annually. Therefore, the development of a vaccine is crucial to combating this disease.
