Influence of a single i.p. injection of dextran sulphate on radiosensitivity of mice was investigated. The administration of dextran sulphate 24, 48 and 72 hours prior to irradiation increased formation of endogenous colonies of the hemopoietic tissue on the surface of the spleen. DRF calculated from an equieffective exposure for 5 colonies was 1.96 when dextran sulphate was administered 24 hours before irradiation, and 2.25 when dextran sulphate was administered 72 hours before irradiation. The radioprotective effects of dextran sulphate were manifested also in the survival of animals exposed to lethal doses of short-termed as well as long-termed gamma radiation.

Unlabelled: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a chronic gastrointestinal disorder, often emerges during childhood and poses significant challenges due to its adverse effects on growth, development, and psychosocial well-being. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of diverse diseases. However, the specific biological role and mechanisms of circRNA OMA1 in children with IBD remain largely unexplored.

Unlabelled: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, progressive, immune-mediated, gastrointestinal inflammatory disease with increasing occurrences in children. Collagen triple helix repeat containing 1 (CTHRC1), a migration-promoting protein, acts as a tumor-promoting factor in malignant tumors. However, functions and mechanisms of CTHRC1 in children with IBD remain unclear.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a heterogeneous disease composed of different endotypes. It is important to develop useful biomarkers for endotyping UC; however, available biomarkers are insufficient. We have already established that periostin is a surrogate biomarker of type 2 inflammation.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a complex gastrointestinal disorder attributed to genetic and environmental factors. Microcystin-leucine-arginine (MC-LR) is an environmental toxin that accumulates in the gut and produces intestinal damage. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of exposure to MC-LR on development and progression of IBD as well examine the underlying mechanisms of microcystin-initiated tissue damage.

Inflammatory bowel disease is a collection of intestinal disorders that cause inflammation in the digestive tract. Prolonged inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract is a major risk factor for colorectal cancer. The objective of this study was to fucus on gene expression levels of (KRT-14; associated with epithelial cell integrity) and enhancer of zeste homolog-1 (EZH-2; involved in cellular proliferation) in a IBD rat model in order to rule out impact of nutraceuticals (pumpkin seed oil; PSO) as a complementary approach to conventional treatments of IBD.
