The stress response following burns may be a crucial factor in keloid formation, yet the underlying pathological mechanisms remain to be elucidated. This study initially investigated how heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) and heat shock proteins (HSPs) within the heat shock pathway influence keloid fibrosis, providing insights into the role of the heat shock response in keloid development. This study aims to further elucidate the role of the heat shock pathway in keloid fibrosis and investigate the specific function of HSF1 within this pathway.

COVID-19 patients display testicular injury in the acute stage and altered serum fertility markers in the recovery phase, however, long-term implications on the testis remain unknown. This study characterized the consequences of SARS-CoV-2 on testis function.

Background: Burn-hemorrhagic shock combined injury, a severe condition causing complex stress responses and metabolic disturbances that significantly affect clinical outcomes in both military and civilian settings, was modeled in swine to investigate the associated metabolomic and proteomic changes and identify potential biomarkers for disease prognosis.
Methods: Eight clean-grade adult male Landrace pigs (4-5 months, average weight 60-70 kg) were used to model burn-hemorrhagic shock combined injury. Serum samples collected at 0 h and 2 h post-injury were analyzed using metabolomic and proteomic measurements.

Effective healing of full-thickness wounds may be challenging, with traditional methods facing limitations due to tissue shortage, infection, and lack of structural support.
Methods: This study explored the combined use of gene transfection and dermal substitutes to improve wound healing.

Background: Loss of muscle mass and strength in patients who have experienced severe burns is dramatic and associated with subsequent functional impairment. Past work has shown that exercise and oxandrolone, an anabolic steroid, individually improve muscle function and muscle mass in severely burned patients. This study aims to evaluate the effect of oxandrolone treatment combined with resistance exercise on muscle atrophy and investigate the protein synthesis and mitochondrial biogenesis pathways in a hindlimb suspension model.
