This paper describes the design, development, synthesis, in silico, and in vitro evaluation of fourteen novel heterocycle hybrids as inhibitors of the α-glucosidase enzyme. The primary aim of this study was to explore the potential of novel pyrazole-phthalazine hybrids as selective inhibitors of α-glucosidase, an enzyme involved in carbohydrate metabolism, which plays a key role in the management of type 2 diabetes. The rationale for this study stems from the need for new, more effective inhibitors of α-glucosidase with improved efficacy and safety profiles compared to currently available therapies like Acarbose.

Microtubule plus-end tracking proteins (+TIPs) participate in nearly all microtubule-based cellular processes and have recently been proposed to function as liquid condensates. However, their formation and internal organization remain poorly understood. Here, we have study the phase separation of Bik1, a CLIP-170 family member and key +TIP involved in budding yeast cell division.

The tiller angle, one of the critical factors that determine the rice plant type, is closely related to rice yield. An appropriate rice tiller angle can improve rice photosynthetic efficiency and increase yields. In this study, we identified a transcription factor, TILLRE ANGLE CONTROL 8 (TAC8), that is highly expressed in the rice tiller base and positively regulates the tiller angle by regulating cell length and endogenous auxin content; TAC8 encodes a TEOSINTE BRANCHED1/CYCLOIDEA/PCF transcriptional activator that is highly expressed in the nucleus.

Drought is a major environmental challenge that hinders the growth and development of plants. R2R3-MYB transcription factors (TFs) play a vital role in mediating responses to abiotic stress; however, their specific functions in Populus davidiana × Populus bolleana hybrid poplar plants remain underexplored. This study focused on PdbMYB6, a novel R2R3-MYB TF identified in P.

A simple and effective method to remove pigments from heterologous secretory proteins expressed in Pichia pastoris.

Adv Biotechnol (Singap)

CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 320 Yueyang Road, Shanghai, 200030, China.

Pichia pastoris is a popular yeast host for high-level heterologous expression of proteins on an industrial scale owing to its reliable expression, robust growth, high fermentation density, and easy genetic manipulation and cultivation at a relatively low cost. Of particular interest is its high secretion efficiency for small proteins including insulin, human serum albumin, vaccines, enzymes, and llama-derived heavy-chain only antibodies (nanobodies) for pharmaceutical and research applications. However, a recurring challenge in using P.
